Students are able to purchase a book from the school media center and be the first one to check it out! This committee works with the school media specialist to schedule and facilitate the quarterly birthday book club celebrations.
This person attends Dolphin Education Fund meetings and shares information with the PTO Board. The chair helps to organize the DEF events such as the Gala and LWE participation in the annual golf event.
This committee helps facilitate food donations from the school community to provide our teachers and staff a snack at their monthly staff meeting. Each month a different grade level is selected and an on-line sign up is distributed for families to sign up to bring food donations. This committee also helps to set up the food on the afternoon of the staff meeting.
This committee helps the chair create beautiful masterpieces that are displayed on the fence entering the parking lot in front of the school. This is used to inform parents of upcoming events or to just bring a smile to those who drive by and see the amazing job they have done.
This committee provides support in the form of school supplies, activity fees, field trip funds, clothing, food, holiday gifts, etc... to families in need within our school and community. Responsibilities may include working with the school guidance counselor to provide needed assistance to identified families; organizing a food drive (collection) at Lake Whitney; coordinating a holiday gift drive and setting up a "pajama day" to raise funds for a local charity selected by the school guidance counselor.
This committee helps our children and school stay healthy. National Bike/walk to school days are held in October and May. Volunteers will make posters, hand out flyers and stickers, gather walkers/bikers etc. It is only a 1 hour commitment in October and May.
This committee puts together a folder at the beginning of the school year to give to homeroom parents which includes expectations for the year and their responsibilities. It also includes homeroom teachers' favorites lists and special area teachers favorites lists. This committee also answers any questions regarding homeroom parents' responsibilities.
This committee is responsible for ordering food, providing choices, menus, etc. to staff and also to help with set up and to serve at the events.
This committee helps promote PTO memberships and distribute incentives for different levels of membership. Additional responsibilities include attending the Teacher Welcome back breakfast to sign up faculty.
This committee works with Nothing Bundt Cakes to coordinate the students' decorating bags and giving their moms a special treat on their special day.
This committee takes pictures throughout the year for the memory book or to share on the website/ facebook.
This committee works with the school Partners in Education (PIE) representative to schedule monthly spirit nights at a Lake Whitney PIE restaurant during which a portion of the proceeds are donated back to the PTO to help fund events and programs.
This committee collects pictures from the school community of special events or achievements and sends them to
the local newspapers (Southwest Bulletin, West Orange Observer) for publication. This committee must work closely with the school to ensure that the photos only include students who have permission to be in the newspaper. This committee also posts important information on Facebook regarding PTO events.
This person works closely with the PTO treasurer and committee chairs to set up school pay and items for collection of monies received.
This person attends SAC meetings and shares information with the PTO Board.
This committee collects grade level lists of desired school supplies and works with a school supply company to ensure timely delivery for Meet the Teacher. This committee also helps with distribution of the school supply kits at Meet the Teacher.
This committee presents designs for school spirit wear to the executive board/president for approval, promotes the sale of spirit wear at the beginning of the school year at Meet the Teacher and delivers purchased items for distribution to students.
This committee chair is responsible for creating a fun flyer with a schedule/theme for this week to include a breakfast and/or luncheon. This chair is also responsible for purchasing small gifts for the teachers.
This committee collects a wish list from each teacher and enters the list on the Teacher Wish List website for families to access if they are interested in donating items to a teacher, the nurse or special area. Throughout the year, this committee will continue to promote the teacher wish list program to families.
This person updates the PTO website which includes the PTO board member's email forwards, PTO meeting minutes, committee information, etc....
This committee provides tours and answers questions twice a year to new families to help them acclimate to Lake Whitney. These tours have typically taken place following the BooHoo/Yahoo Breakfast and in January.
